turning the tide…
what’s happening?
Coastal Rowing offers considerable opportunities for the rowing community in the Americas. Taking advantage of the extensive coastline, coastal rowing brings the sport to highly populated areas with limited resources to support flat water training and racing. Coastal rowing is prominent in Europe, and a World Championship is currently supported by World Rowing (FISA). We are excited about the prospect of inclusion in the 2028 Olympic Games at Los Angeles.
what we want to do:
Establish coastal races and touring events
Procure a fleet of FISA spec coastal boats to bring to races/events
Create a membership organization, with numerous benefits to members
Provide coastal rowing education and training for rowers and coaches
Promote the efforts and offerings of coastal clubs
Create coastal referee education and qualification, utilizing FISA coastal rules
Develop youth athletes by providing access to coastal rowing equipment and training
Support elite coastal rowing athletes for World Championships through funding, equipment, training, and travel
what fun!
Coastal rowing is an extreme sport, encouraging controlled risks and adventure, with rugged and aggressive races within the framework of accepted international rules. This is a beach sport, so when the racing is done, the atmosphere lends itself to parties and a solid dose of community camaraderie.
Go Coastal Rowing is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization, with leadership and idea-generators representing rowing clubs across the country and Canada.
We have working relationships with USRowing and are in communication with World Rowing leadership in an effort to bring coastal rowing in the U.S. in line with international standards.
